Security in electronic voting Authorisations and Legal Validity
Rulings from the Chilean labour authority, experience as a SERVEL technology provider, and the international Tech for Democracy 2023 award.
Legal validity that does not depend solely on our word
The legal validity of an electronic election does not arise spontaneously: it requires specific rulings from the competent authority, technical review of the system and formal backing before regulatory bodies. EVoting has been building those credentials since 2014.
Chile's Labour Directorate: unions and associations
EVoting was the first company to obtain a favourable ruling from Chile's Labour Directorate to conduct electronic elections in trade unions and public sector employee associations.
- Ruling ORD. No. 3362/053 (2014): specific ruling enabling the use of electronic systems for elections in trade unions and public servant associations.
- Physical source code review: the authority physically reviewed the system's source code as part of its assessment.
- Applicable to: company-level, multi-company and independent-worker trade unions; public servant associations.
Compensation Funds, SERVEL and international recognition
EVoting extends its legal backing to labour affiliation processes and to Chile's highest electoral body.
- Ruling ORD. No. 4969/0079 (2016): Labour Directorate ruling enabling the use of EVoting for affiliation and disaffiliation processes at Family Allowance Compensation Funds.
- SERVEL: EVoting is a technology partner of Chile's Electoral Service (SERVEL), the highest electoral body of the State, supporting results in national general elections.
- Tech for Democracy 2023: international recognition for EVoting's technology contribution to democratic integrity.
